Loer Velocity
The Hush Movement | Listen: Song I Sing

It’s always been here for me. I come from a musical background. My father played the drums, and actually turned me on to jazz. My mom was never a professional singer but she has a beautiful voice. She always tried to get me to play the trumpet, but I was more concerned with girls, sports & G.I. Joe…lol.

So what’s up, how’s everything right now, introduce yourself to the USTYLES Community?

Peace what’s up party people!? It’s Loer Velocity, the Hush Movement.

How did the name Loer Velocity come about?

It sort of just developed itself. My name’s Carlos. Growing up, people on the block always called me Los. Lo was my first MC name but I didn’t want to be confused or lost in the shuffle of other MCs with similar names, so I started calling myself “Loer” because I’m ‘Down by Law!’..lol “Velocity” is just a cool last name.

What projects are you working on right now and when can we expect to hear it?

Well you know my mixed CD has been circulating for some time now. Its gotten great reviews at press. I currently have a 3 song single out on Embedded Music entitled “Song I Sing” B/W “Convo Piece” & “Crash Test Dummy”. It’s the lead single off of my forthcoming album entitled “Ready for Renaissance” due out mid September. I don’t have too many features on it but you’ll hear Poison Pen of Strong Hold fame, Edot of Uncle Howie Records, my man Sav Kills, and Cvees. With production by Donnan Linx, Chris Jarvis, The Labyrinth, and my homie Caness.

Who inspired you to get into music?

It’s always been here for me. I come from a musical background. My father played the drums, and actually turned me on to jazz. My mom was never a professional singer but she has a beautiful voice. She always tried to get me to play the trumpet, but I was more concerned with girls, sports & G.I. Joe…lol. My uncle was heavy in the game. He used to manage Johnny Gill, Stacy Latisaw, Steve Arrington and some others. So, some aspect of music has always been around me but umm, Special Ed was the guy who made me want to rhyme.

What keeps you motivated, you know. Keep you going?

Hmm, good question. I’m always interested to see how artist answer this one, for me it’s just the day to day experiences and my love for self-expression.

Who are some of your favorite artists right now?

Right now I’m listening to a lot of indie music like Zion I, Cool Calm Pete, my man WordsWorth, HERO. I also listen to mainstream MC’s too like Styles P, Nas, Redman, and Ghostface. I like Lupe too; he put out a clever first single.

If you could collaborate with anyone, who would it be?

There’s quite a few. Pete Rock, DJ. Premier, Styles P, Nas, Lupe, Common... De La Soul, but that one I’d keep in the stash for my own personal enjoyment.

Where you from?

Yonkers, Yonkers home of the brave!

Yankees or Met fan?

I’m a New York fan, period. ….Go Yankees.

How did you feel the first time you went out on stage and performed?

Man, I was nervous. But now I know that nervousness is just energy, excitement. You got to know how to channel it.

Name one of you all time favorite concerts you have experienced and why?

I’ve been to a bunch of bangin’ concerts. One of my favorite Hip Hop joints was a M.O.P. show. CRAZY! That was my first time experiencing a mosh pit.

How do you feel about sites like MySpace, YouTube, Podomatic, etc?

I think they’re great. They provide a platform & opportunities for networking & expanding. Check myspace out. www.Myspace/LoerVelocity.com

What’s the last movie you saw and would you recommend it?

I tried to see X-Men. Me & shorty brought tickets then went to eat because we had time. Yeah right. ..It was playing in 2 separate theatres at the same time & both were crowded to capacity so we had to sneak in to see Da Vinci Code. Nah I wouldn’t, read the book its better.

How do you feel about music in general right now?

Me and music have a love/hate relationship. We go through phases, lol. Right now, I’m loving it. There’s so much good stuff coming out. ..Plus, my album’s about to drop! CHYEAH!!

How would you describe your style?

I describe my style like how I dress. Casually rough with a vintage feel appeal.
